City Champions!

Alexa is on the Jr. girls basketball team at her highschool and yesterday they won the City Championships. It was a hard fought game against the Diefenbaker Chiefs but the Bobcats led by a couple points for most of the game and they pulled out towards the end for a strong win!

As many know, we have always been a soccer family, Alexa has played soccer since she was 6 but after a few injuries Alexa decided to leave soccer and in September she went to try out for the basketball team to support a friend of hers. The tryouts were early in the morning before school and I remember saying to her "Alexa, why do you want to tryout for basketball? You've never played before, why don't you just stay home and get some more sleep" Well, she sure showed me, after three tryouts she made the team! She came home from her first practices and started searching the internet for all the basketball terms and plays that she was learning because she had a huge learning curve. So did we, basketball is nothing like soccer, for one the clock stops all the time, which means you never know how long a game is going to be. By the end of the season I was learning what a foul was, what a three point shot was and Alexa even got a few layup baskets in. The energy at the games is high and there are lots of fans, It was great fun!
